StarTimes Uganda Premier League outfit Express FC edged Lugazi FC 1-0 at the Round of 32 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup at Luzira Prisons Grounds on Sunday.

Allan Kayiwa scored the all-important goal for the joint record winners in the 25th minute from a penalty after Lugazi goalkeeper Florence Watmon fouled him inside the forbidden area.

At the stroke of halftime, Lugazi's Arafa Bagala was shown a red card for a second bookable offense following an elbow on Kayiwa in the 44th minute.

Despite the visitor being a man down for the entire second half of the game, the hosts could not capitalize on their numerical advantage.

The Red Eagles were not convincing enough on the day, but did just enough to see them progress to the next stage of the competition.

James Odoch's charges are back in Round 16 having failed at Round 32 last season when their rivals SC Villa dumped them out.

As they wait for the draws, Express will return to SUPL action on Saturday away to URA FC in Nakisunga.

There were also victories for Ndejje University FC, Police FC, Calvary FC, and Adjumani T/C FC, who eliminated Blue Star FC 4-0, Pajule Lions 1-0, JLOS FC 1-0, and Elite FC 2-1 respectively.
