Jinja Progressive edged their crosstown rivals Jinja Senior Secondary School 4-2 in penalties to win the Uganda Secondary Schools Association Jinja City schools football trophy.
Onduparaka’s striker James Jarieko put JiPRA ahead after just three minutes but Reagan Isabirye restored parity after the half-hour mark.
The match, like it has been in the past seven editions, ended in a draw after regulation time to force the final into post-match kicks from the penalty mark.
Lukeman Lwanga. Sowedi Lwenda converted their first two kicks for JiPRA while John Owino netted for Jinja SSS.
However, Jinja SSS Jordan Icon and Churchill Ocan failed their successive kicks to put coach Hassan Zungu’s side in a tight corner.
Yasin Masambo gave Jinja SSS faint hopes when he fired out but Shadius Ngoobi and James Jarieko made no mistake to give JiPRA the win.
