Former Liverpool teammates Fernando Torres and Alvaro Arbeloa were involved in a touchline fight with the ex-striker threatening to blow off the ex-defender's head
Former Liverpool and Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres reportedly threatened a former teammate Alvaro Arbeloa when the pair nearly came to blows on the touchline of an age-grade competition.
Torres and Arbeloa get into spat over U-19 game refereeing
Torres, who currently works as coach of Atletico Madrid’s Under-19 team, faced off with former Liverpool teammate Arbeloa, who currently coaches the Real Madrid equivalent side, in a heated Madrid youth derby in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Juvenil A Cup in Spain.
Atletico Madrid had done well to claw back a 2-0 deficit against Real Madrid from the first leg of the tie, but succumbed to two goals in extra time to lose to their cross town neighbours, with coach Torres upset at the qualiy of refereeing during the game.
He did not hide his feelings towards the referee and was booed by the Real Madrid fans and antagonised by his opposing coach, Arbeloa.
Torres and Arbeloa involved in junior team melee
During the altercation between the former teammates at Liverpool, they can be seen approaching each other on the touchline and exchanging words before Torres pushes Arbeloa and the pair is separated.
The former Chelsea record signing is sreported to have been so upset during the confrontation that he told Arbeloa that he would “blow his head off” while the former Real Madrid man responded "Start whenever you want.”
Torres was sent off for his part in the melee, while Arbeloa went unpished, sparking outrage on the Atletico Madrid bench, with Rojiblancos’ substitutes confronting the referee on the pitch.
