Atletico Madrid’s unbeaten run came to an end at Camp Nou after losing to Barcelona in a very tense game.

Barcelona returned to winning ways by defeating Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou after three games without a win. Barcelona opened the scoring some minutes before the halftime whistle.

Raphina’s beautiful ball found Feran Torres on the left with the winger cutting in to unleash a venom of a shot at Oblak who had no chance at saving it. The game ended 1-0 in favour of the home side as Barcelona brings a halt to Atletico’s unbeaten run.

As it happened

Barcelona manager Xavi made three changes to his side that drew to Getafe last week with Alonso, Ferran Torres and De Jong in the starting lineup while Diego Simeone also made two changes to his side that defeated Almeria with Savic and Lemar in the lineup.

The game started with Antoine Griezmann finding space from a decent pass, and immediately hitting a rocket of a shot at goal that clips the top of the crossbar. Barcelona later controlled the game by having more possession of the ball as Atletico sat deep to play on the counter.

The game opened up for Barcelona a minute to half time when Raphinha played a long ball to Ferran Torres who cut inside and unleashed a screamer into the bottom right corner with Jan Oblak having no chance.

The second half started with the same intensity with Barcelona dictating the game and having more possessions. The second goal was all Barcelona needed to finish off the game but their efforts were not fruitful as the referee blew the final whistle.

Atletico Madrid’s 11-game unbeaten record comes to an end at the hands of Barcelona at Camp Nou. Xavi’s side will look to build on this win in their next game against Rayo Vallecano.
