Finidi George's salary expectation
According to reports from Ojora Babatunde on X, Ibitoye highlighted the precedent set by previous foreign coaches' salaries, advocating for equitable compensation for indigenous coaches like Finidi.
"The last foreign coaches we had, one was $48,000, the other was $70,000. How much are we going to be paying Finidi George? It shouldn’t be anything less than ₦30-40 million a month," emphasised Ibitoye.
Speaking on the transition, Ibitoye noted the significance of the appointment and hinted at the challenges ahead. "Finidi’s immediate job is to lead Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.
“If he fails to do so, he could be booted out," Ibitoye affirmed, underscoring the importance of securing positive results in upcoming fixtures.
