K'Ogalo are hoping to claim another Charity Shield on Saturday afternoon but face a Kakamega Homeboyz side that beat them twice last season
Gor Mahia are set to face Kakamega Homeboyz in the FKF Charity Shield at the Kasarani Stadium from 3pm on Saturday.
Gor will be taking part in the shield by virtue of having won a historic 20th league title last season, while Homeboyz will be taking part in their maiden match having won the FKF Cup last season.

K’Ogalo will be seeking to nurse the wounds of the large slap of missing out on this season’s CAF Champions League imposed on them with a win over Homeboyz, who have proved a stubborn side to face under the tutelage of head coach Patrick Odhiambo.
Coach Jonathan McKinstry will be employing a cautious approach even as he expects a tight game against the Confederation Cup debutants-to-be on Saturday.
“In the last two years, Hombeoyz are one of the best teams in the league, they had a slow start to last season but the previous year, they missed out on the KPL championship on goal difference to Tusker and last year winning the FKF Cup and also having a strong second half to the season,” McKinstry said ahead of the match

CAF picked Oloya to officiate the match that will be hosted on Friday 18th August, at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.
“We expect them to be very strong again throughout the year, not just in the Charity Shield, we expect that come round 33 or 34 of the league, they will be around the top three places so we know it is really a tough game.”
The last time both sides played each other was in the penultimate game of the 2022/23 FKF-PL season, where Homeboyz came from behind to beat the Green Army 3-2, which put their title hopes in jeopardy.
Gor, therefore, cannot afford to take anything for granted ahead of the fixture.
Homeboyz head coach Odhiambo has revealed that given Gor have experience playing in the continental stage, they pose the challenge they need in their quest to prepare themselves for their debut continental campaign this season.
"Meeting Gor Mahia will be important to us. Remember this is a team that has a lot of experience playing on the international stage. We believe they will pose the kind of challenge we are likely to encounter against our foreign opponents," Odhiambo said.
Since the inaugural Charity Shield match in 2009, Gor have gone on to win six times and will be hoping to make it seven as Homeboyz eye their first.
