The federation made the revelation on Saturday morning via their website, revealing that the short-term partnership was for the coverage of round 30 of the Kenyan top flight.
As earlier reported by Pulse Sports, the Football for Kenyan Federation (FKF) has confirmed the Kenya Premier League TV rights deal with Azam TV, Tanzania's leading pay-tv broadcaster.
The federation made the revelation on Saturday morning via their website, revealing that the short-term partnership was for the coverage of round 30 of the Kenyan top flight.
"Football Kenya Federation is delighted to announce a short-term partnership with Azam, a renowned broadcasting network," part of the statement read.
"Under this exclusive short-term deal, Azam will hold the rights to broadcast two matches, the first Kariobangi Sharks Vs Tusker on Saturday and the Mashemeji Derby on Sunday."
FKF president Nick Mwendwa welcomed the partnership, adding that the federation remains committed to the healthy development of football.
"We're grateful to Azam for coming to support us, albeit in the short run; as a federation, we remain committed to the wholesome development of football," Mwendwa noted.
"And as such, we shall continue exploring more commercial partnerships that can raise the value of our league," he added.
As reported earlier, the deal is worth $60,000, with the Kenyan all 18 top flight clubs sharing the money equally, including the referees.
In 2020 the FKF unveiled StarTimes as the league broadcaster in a deal worth $110M for seven years.
Still, StarTimes cancelled the contract a year later, accusing FKF of poorly executing their agreement.
Ababu Namwanba, the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts, raised the hopes of many in December 2022 when he revealed he had negotiated with South African pay TV giants Supersport to return to Kenya, five years after they left, but the talks have since gone cold.
FKF further confirmed that the matches will be accessible via the Azam TV Max app for free.
The Mashemeji Derby, which takes place on Sunday, May 14th, is a fixture between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, a traditional rivalry that has lasted for nearly 70 years.
K'Ogalo, coached by former Uganda Cranes head coach Johnathan Mckinstry led the 18-team log with 63 points, two behind second-placed Tusker FC after 29 games.
