PAC put in a spirited fight but ultimately could not wither AFC Leopards' storm as Arthur Gitego's hat-trick knocked them out of the FKF Cup.
PAC University head coach Moses Cheburet has admitted that his side simply did not have the level of discipline required to match up to AFC Leopards’ quality as they lost 3-0 to the 13-time FKF Premier League champions in the FKF Cup round of 32 on Sunday.
Leopards needed an Arthur Gitego hat-trick to knock out the varsity side, with two of those three goals being scored in the second half.
Cheburet’s charges did have a good first-half showing, creating a couple of chances after forcing Ingwe into making unnecessary mistakes, but ultimately could not maintain their intensity for 90 minutes.

FOOTBALL AFC Leopards midfielder Clifton Miheso's message to fans after winning bonus saga
Ingwe midfielder Miheso has spoken out after a bonus dispute that saw players boycotting training on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
The gaffer has now admitted that, considering it was the first time they were playing against such an opponent, the result was inevitable.
“This was a big level for us because we had never played at such a huge step. We will build from here and go forward,” Cheburet said.
Cheburet blamed the loss partly on mistakes from his backline, considering the fact that the first goal was down to an unnecessary turnover of possession when the keeper Daudi Mutavi tried playing out from the back, while the second goal was a failed attempt to command his area.

FOOTBALL FKF Cup: Hat-trick hero Gitego inspires AFC Leopards over spirited PAC University
Gitego completed a hat-trick for Leopards, two of those goals being set up by Kaycie Odhiambo, playing in midfield on the afternoon to knock out a spirited PAC University from the 2023/2024 FKF Cup.
“I tried to instill motivation into my boys and as you saw in the first half, we controlled the game but the first two goals we conceded were down to goalkeeping mistakes.
“The keeper found himself in a precarious position and that is how we conceded, but that is the difference in experience levels but I am happy that we have gained experience.”
Cheburet has revealed the biggest thing he learned about his team from the experience of playing a seasoned top-flight club.

FOOTBALL Daddy Owen strikes a chord with AFC Leopards amid financial duet
Renowned musician Daddy Owen meet AFC Leopards' chairman on Saturday to discuss innovative solutions for the club's ongoing financial challenges.
“If you are not able to maintain your positional discipline over 90 minutes, you will get found out. AFC Leopards had that in abundance.
“They dominated possession for large parts of the game so ideally, we have to be able to stay disciplined for 90 minutes to improve.”
