Tusker have been inconsistent for large parts of the season but recently put together a run of form that helped them finish second in the league with a game to spare.

Tusker FC vice captain Eugine Asike has called on his teammates to end the season on a high note as they prepare to host Kakamega Homeboyz at Ruaraka Grounds this Sunday for their final league match.

Despite an underwhelming season marked by inconsistent results, the team has managed to secure a second-place finish, largely due to a recent surge in form.

The departure of several experienced players, including Humphrey Mieno to Sofapaka, posed significant challenges for Tusker.

The new, younger players took time to adapt to coach Robert Matano’s methods, resulting in a rocky start to the season.

However, the team has found its stride, consolidating a respectable second place with one game left to play. Although this falls short of their ambitions of lifting the league title and securing continental football for next season, it is a positive conclusion to a challenging campaign.

In a recent interview with the club’s media channels following their 2-1 victory over Posta Rangers in Thika, Asike emphasized the importance of teamwork in their recent success.

"It is all about teamwork. Everybody is putting a shift in from the goalkeeper all the way to the attackers, so it is all about that and it has helped," Asike stated.

The two-time capped Harambee Stars defender highlighted his defensive partnership with Charles Momanyi as a crucial factor in their strong finish.

"The partnership I have with Momanyi stems down to experience. We understand each other’s game quite well," Asike explained.

Asike also cautioned his teammates against underestimating Kakamega Homeboyz, stressing the need for a positive and focused approach.

"We expect a tough game from Kakamega Homeboyz. We will be playing at home and we want to finish the season on a high. We have to approach that match with a positive mindset and I am positive that if we do that, everything will go our way."

Tusker FC aims to close the season with a victory, providing a fitting end to a season of adaptation and growth.
