He must be a serious contender — Man City boss Guardiola on Player of the Year award
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has given his thoughts on the PFA Player of the Year award.
Foden’s dream team
During an interview with Mail Sport Football Editor Ian Ladyman, as shared on X, Foden was asked to pick his all-time Premier League dream team
Starting from the back, Foden made a series of eyebrow-raising choices, making some controversial picks in his dream team.
Foden said, "I'm serious though, I don't see another right back," he insisted, slotting Ederson and Kyle Walker into his defensive setup.
Alongside them, he placed City legend Vincent Kompany and current rival Virgil van Dijk in the heart of defense, with the experienced Ashley Cole completing the formidable back four.
In midfield, Foden's selections continued to stir debate. Opting for a blend of experience and skill, he paired the four-time Premier League winner David Silva with former Arsenal talisman Patrick Vieira.
"I feel like [Silva] needs that protection, so it's a good balance," he reasoned, justifying his midfield choices.
De Bruyne Omissions
Foden's midfield choices left no room for current City captain Kevin De Bruyne, despite acknowledging his exceptional talent.
"I've never seen anything like" the Belgian on the pitch, Foden remarked. Nevertheless, his lineup still boasted an array of stars.
Leading the attacking charge, Foden included Cristiano Ronaldo and positioned Thierry Henry on the right wing to accommodate two centre-forwards.
Spearheading the attack, he named Sergio Aguero alongside Wayne Rooney, making it a formidable forward line.
In summary, Foden's dream team reads as follows: Ederson; Walker, Kompany, Van Dijk, A. Cole; Ronaldo, Vieira, D. Silva, Henry; Rooney, Aguero.
