It is reported that Chichi just collapsed on stairs before being pronounced dead.
The painful sting of death has struck the AFC Leopards fraternity after the thirteen-time Football Kenya Federation Premier champions lost their former treasurer Maurice Choge Chichi.
Chichi died on Sunday morning when he collapsed on a staircase and was rushed immediately to hospital, but could not be saved.
Chichi’s family released a statement on his official Facebook page confirming the football administrator’s death.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved brother, Maurice Chichi Choge. He died on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Official communication will be passed from the family through this Facebook Page.”
AFC Leopards paid tribute to Chichi; “We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing on of our former treasurer Maurice Chichi Choge Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Chichi's family, friends and relatives.”
Chichi was elected as the AFC Leopards Treasurer in June 2019 after garnering 506 votes against Napali Imbezi's 18.
He only served for one term and was not cleared to run in 2022 by the Centre for Multiparty Democracy -Kenya (CMD), which was mandated to oversee the elections.
