Former Chelsea goalkeeper speaks about their disappointing season and what has to improve.
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic takes a shot at the club's current culture, saying expectations were much higher while he was at the club and seasons like this one would not have been accepted.
The 35-year-old Bosnian shot-stopper played for Chelsea for two seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17 before he left for Bournemouth in the summer transfer window of the 2017/18 season. He was part of a Premier League triumph with Chelsea during that period.
What Begovic said
The two-time Bosnia and Herzegovina player of the year expressed his disappointment at Chelsea's season, which currently has them placed at 11th on the Premier League table and knocked out of the Champions League with a 4-0 aggregate score to Real Madrid.
The former Everton goalkeeper said the club must learn from the current situation to ensure they do not repeat themselves, as seasons like this are not acceptable by Chelsea standards.

Frank Lampard insists Chelsea were the better team against Real Madrid
Chelsea interim boss Frank Lampard has said his team played brilliantly for large parts against Real Madrid as the Blues crashed out of the Champions League.
He went on to recall his time at the club, saying that while he was employed at Chelsea, the standards were not allowed to drop this low.
"It is something they have to learn from in order to make sure it does not happen again. Seasons like this are not accepted by Chelsea fans - it is not the Chelsea that we know," Begovic said, per the BBC.
"When I was there, it would not have been accepted. There are certain expectations that come with this club, and if anything, this season must be a huge learning curve for everyone."

Begovic questioned leadership in the team
Begovic also questioned the lack of leadership in the team, saying other than Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva, the young squad lacked leadership.
"It is glaring that the frontline needs to change, and I think there is a lack of leadership. It is a very young team, aside from Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva. I don’t know where the other leaders are.”
