Former NFF President lauds NLO as new season kickoff in grand style

NLO started on Wednesday with the Kano Derby between Kano Pillars Jrn and arch-rival Kwankwasiyya FC at Sani Abacha Stadium, which was a standout fixture of Matchday One and ended in a one-all draw to the delight of over 5,000 spectators.

The former President of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) now Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, has showered praise to the organizers of the Nationwide League One (NLO) for a nearly ideal season start.

Galadima is delighted with NLO smooth season kickoff

The acting chairman of Kano Pillars said after the game that he is delighted to see the country's tier football divion started the season with a smooth process.

Galadima added that it take a lot of planning and dedication to get things done because the NLO is so large and has so many teams.

He said, "It's heartwarming that Kano hosted the NLO opening 2023 season fixture, which was between, and my presence at the game is my way of showing appreciation to the nation's third-tier league body for this honor.

"The season has started on a good note, as it's important to see the development of the Nationwide League One.

"Much emphasis has been placed on the country's top-flight league but I think, we should put more support to the NNL and NLO in other to produce more players that will in the future graduate into the NPFL and various national teams.

"Today's logistics has been near perfect, we are looking forward to seeing more of such progress that will end bring about more development of Nigerian football.

"The size of the NLO, with the number of teams, is so intimidating, that it will take a lot of organization and commitment to get things done.

"It's fascinating that the NLO Secretariat is been able to get things done at a top level, so am delighted with the smooth season kickoff."

Over 400 teams and academics will battle for Nigeria's second-division league, the Nigeria National League (NNL), at the end of the season.
