The right-back left FKF Premier League defending champions a year ago.

Former Tusker and Gor Mahia defender Wellington Ochieng has refuted the rumors suggesting that he has retired from professional football.

The 27-year-old player, who left Tusker a year ago after a single season with the FKF Premier League defending champions, has clarified his current situation.

"I have not retired from football; I have simply taken a break from the beautiful game," Ochieng stated firmly in an interview with a local online television Betnare TV.

"Contrary to popular belief, I was not dropped by Tusker FC. I made the decision to part ways with the club due to personal issues. I want to assure my fans that I am far too young to retire, and I am eager to return to the field soon."

Ochieng's statement comes in the midst of recent speculation surrounding his football career.

While some reports had suggested that the talented defender had hung up his boots, he has categorically denied these claims.

Ochieng is keen to emphasize that his absence from the game is only temporary and has been driven by personal circumstances.

Having been a prominent figure in Tusker's defense during his time at the club, Ochieng's departure surprised many fans.

However, the player's clarification sheds light on the situation, assuring supporters that his decision was not prompted by any lack of opportunity or performance-related issues.

Before joining Tusker, the right-back had a successful spell at Gor Mahia, a club that he had joined in 2016 from Muhoroni Youth.

Ochieng clarified that the decision to take a break from the game should not be interpreted as an end to his professional football journey.

On the contrary, the defender assured football fans that he remains committed to the sport and is actively working towards his return to the field.
