"My stay at AS Kigali ended last season; of course, it wasn't the best of seasons because we didn't win the league or defend the domestic cup, but overall, we gave everything," Rukundo told Pulse Sports.

"Like every free agent, I am weighing my options, but returning to the Ugandan top flight would be great."

"I know the league and what it takes to help any team, especially the ones competing for the title," Rukundo added.

A return to AS Kigali is also on the card: "Returning to AS Kigali is also a possibility, fingers crossed."

The 26-year-old arrived on the scene while at Maroons FC in 2016; he then moved to KCCA FC the following season and featured prominently winning the league double and as the Kasasiro boys reached the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in the club's history before he switched to APR FC.

Rukundo, who had a brief stint with Police FC before returning to Rwanda again, featured 22 times for AS Kigali last season, managing seven assists and two goals as the side finished fourth on 47 points.

He also won the Peace Cup, Rwanda's Domestic Cup in 2022, and the 2023 Rwanda Super Cup with the same side.

Having amassed a lot of continental football experience from the sides he has featured for in KCCA FC, APR FC and AS Kigali, it remains to be seen which side competing for the title next season will snap up Denis Rukundo.
