South Africa's Premier Soccer League giants opt for former Bafana Bafana coach to end trophy drought.

In a surprising turn of events, South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Kaizer Chiefs have announced the appointment of Molefi Ntseki as their new head coach, dashing the speculations surrounding former Yanga SC coach Nasreddine Nabbi's potential role.

The club made the official announcement on Wednesday afternoon, informing their fans that the management has restructured the coaching department at Naturena.

Nasreddine Nabbi's name had been circulating as a potential candidate to replace the under-fire Arthur Zwane, but the club's decision to bring in Ntseki has put an end to those rumors.

Kaizer Chiefs had a disappointing 2022-23 campaign, finishing fifth in the Premier Soccer League, a staggering 26 points behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Since their last major trophy triumph in 2015, the Amakhosi have struggled to find consistent success.

In the quest to end their trophy drought, the club has undergone a revolving door of coaching changes. Steve Komphela, Giovanni Solinas, Ernst Middendorp, Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter (in a second spell), and most recently, Arthur Zwane have all been entrusted with the task, yet none have managed to bring home the desired silverware.

Nabi, who had been heavily linked to Kaizer Chiefs, will now need to search for alternative opportunities in his coaching career.

While the decision not to appoint him may come as a disappointment, the club's management firmly believes that Molefi Ntseki's experience and expertise will be the catalyst needed to propel Kaizer Chiefs back to their winning ways.

So far, the appointment has sparked renewed hope among supporters on social media, who are eagerly anticipating a turnaround in the fortunes for their beloved club.

Only time will tell if Ntseki can bring back the glory days of Kaizer Chiefs and reignite their pursuit of silverware in the seasons to come.
