Outspoken former Wazito FC owner Ricardo Badoer has seemed to suggest that he was the only one who made Kenyan football tick
Big-talking former Wazito FC owner Ricardo Badoer has seemed to suggest that the standards of Kenyan football have fallen since his exit.
The flamboyant Dubai-based businessman bought Waizito FC, who has since changed names to Muhoroni Youth, in 2018 while they were still in the second tier National Super League and promised to turn them into Africa’s biggest club.
They went on a spending spree, signing some of the biggest names in Kenya and in East Africa, and secured promotion after which Badoer continued loosening the purse strings with a view to winning the FKF Premier League title.

FOOTBALL Wazito FC explain the reason behind renaming the club to Muhoroni Youth
The Muhoroni-based outfit have revealed the difficulties they have been facing under the Wazito identity, necessitating the name change
However, following the COVII-19 pandemic, the team started experiencing a cash crunch with its owner also reported to be facing financial challenges before selling the club in 2022.
“Say what you want but without me Kenyan football does not feel the same,” Badoer, famously known as the Don, posted on X.
Following the selling of the club, Wazito struggled to get going with their big-money acquisitions quitting in search of pastures new.
The club was reported to have been acquired by a Kisumu-based businessman although Muhoroni Youth chairman Moses Adagala became the public face of the side.
That led to speculation that Adagala was the man behind the team and it became clearer when the club shifted its base from Nairobi to Kisumu before playing their home matches at the dreaded Got Alila.
Wazito survived relegation from the Premier League last season following victory against Migori Youth in the playoff after which they officially changed names to Muhoroni Youth.
