MOTORSPORT Four riders return to defend Uganda's regional MX title

MX2 champions Ssentamu and Stav Orland, Gift Ssebuguzi (MX Lite), and Alon Orland (MX 125) recently competed in the South African Motocross Championship, gaining valuable experience and skills that they plan to put to the test this weekend.

A strong display in South Africa has provided enough proving ground for Ugandan riders Fortune Ssentamu and Gift Ssebuguzi ahead of the East and Central African Motocross Championship.

The two together with and siblings Stav and Alon Orland will boost Uganda’s chances of retaining the regional title and defending national pride against neighbours Kenya and Tanzania.

The first round of the East and Central African Motocross Championship will be held at the Extreme Adventure Park in Busiika, on Sunday.

MX2 champions Ssentamu and Stav Orland, Gift Ssebuguzi (MX Lite), and Alon Orland (MX 125) recently competed in the South African Motocross Championship, gaining valuable experience and skills that they plan to put to the test this weekend.

The South African championship, which concluded on Sunday in Pretoria, was the third race on the South African motorcycle calendar.

Stav Orland was the best Ugandan finisher, coming in second in MX2, while Ssentamu finished eighth in the same category.

Ssebuguzi, the African champion in the MX 85 category, finished ninth, and Alon Orland in the MX 125 also took ninth.

Excited about their return to Uganda, Stav Orland said, "This is my second time participating in the event this year.”

"We have learned a lot from the South African riders, and now we are looking forward to the East and Central African Motocross Championship,” he added.

The race will carry double importance for the drivers, as it will count as round three on the National Motocross Championship, and will also score on the regional championship.

The return of these talented drivers has generated great enthusiasm among fans of motorsports in Uganda, with many eagerly awaiting the thrilling races that are sure to unfold.

The event is expected to be a high-octane spectacle with over 20 racing cars also set to participate
