Kajoba has called Timbe his mentor and guardian, who played a strong hand in ensuring he gets into a reputable coach.

Uganda Cranes goalkeepers' coach Fred Kajoba has eulogised fallen URA Football Club head coach Sam Timbe.

The latter met his death on his way to Nakasero Hospital from St Catherine Hospital on Saturday after a short illness.

Kajoba has called Timbe his mentor and guardian, who played a strong hand in ensuring he gets into a reputable coach.

"I send my sincere condolences for the passing of my coach, Sam Timbe," Kajoba started.

"He was my first coach when I was only 16 at Coffee FC, and he mentored me in goalkeeping till this day. He had become a coach at the time I joined."

"We shared a house for five years in Mengo, so I send my heartfelt condolences to his family, the children and his wife."

"I can say a lot about coach Timbe, and he called me his son every time we met. He has a hand in whatever I have become," Kajoba said.

It should be noted that Timbe was a one-club player, having plied his trade for Coffee FC as a goalkeeper but also for the national team between 1978 and 1983 but was never capped.

He coached at SC Villa, Atraco, Young Africans, Police, Coffee, Lyantonde, UPDF, Mbale Heroes, Sofapaka, She Kobs and the Uganda U-19 national team.

He has also previously coached Tusker FC in Kenya and Malaysian Premier League at Persatuan Bolasepak Sarawak FC in 2020 before returning to URA FC in 2021.

As a coach, Timbe won two league titles with SC Villa (2004), Atraco (2008) and Young Africans(Yanga) (2010/2011).

He also won four CECAFA titles as a coach with SC Villa (2005), Police (2006), Atraco (2009) and Young Africans (2011).
