The CECAFA secretariat had initially scheduled the kickoff for June 24th but pushed it forward by five days before being called off.

FUFA has decided to dismiss the Uganda National Under-18 Women’s team after CECAFA once again postponed the kickoff of the inaugural tournament.

The CECAFA secretariat had initially scheduled the kickoff for June 24th but pushed it forward by five days.

FUFA has confirmed that the tournament has, again, been postponed indefinitely, forcing them to call the camp off.

“FUFA has confirmed the release of the entire contingent of players and officials of the Uganda National Women’s U18 team players from the residential camp at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, after CECAFA postponed the tournament,” the federation said in a statement.

“The players will now return to their respective schools and clubs. FUFA will communicate any new future developments from CECAFA about the tournament,” the message that also casts doubts about its certainty reads.

The team has been in camp for about two weeks since June 11th, when Ayub Khalifa summoned the squad.

The regional body had agreed to form the age-group tournament to help nations vying for a place in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup preparations.
