Timbe, aged 69, was declared dead on Saturday afternoon at St. Catherine Hospital along Lumumba Avenue, Kampala.
Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) Competitions Department has confirmed that the FUFA Super 8 semi final between KCCA FC and URA FC has been called off.
The game, which was scheduled for Sunday evening at the MTN Omondi Stadium, has been put on hold due to the death of URA FC's head coach, Sam Timbe.
FUFA said in a statement; ““FUFA Competitions Department has postponed the FUFA Super 8 semifinal match between KCCA FC and URA FC that was scheduled for Sunday, 20th August 2023.”
“The decision has been made to allow URA FC and the entire football fraternity to honour and pay their last respects to coach Sam Timbe who passed on today afternoon.”
“A new date on which the game will be played shall be confirmed later."
“We continue to send our commiserations to the family, friends, URA FC, and the football fraternity at large,” the statement added.

The club said that Timbe was pronounced dead as he was being rushed Nakasero Hospital for Intensive Care as referred by St. Catherine Hospital.
Pulse Sports has gathered that just the day before his passing, Timbe was actively engaged in his coaching duties, overseeing the first team's training session.
However, during the session, he reportedly began feeling unwell, complaining of a fever.
Recognizing the need for immediate medical attention, Timbe left the team camp at Standard Hotel to seek treatment.
His situation seemed to worsen overnight. After being admitted to St. Catherine Hospital, his health continued to deteriorate, prompting the medical staff to refer him to Nakasero Hospital.
Born on January 1, 1954, Timbe has been a beacon of dedication and commitment to football.
