While Traguil does not consider the tournament as a priority, he believes KCCA is a big team that should win silverware in every competition they take part.

KCCA FC head coach Sergio Traguil has emphasized the need for the team to win the FUFA Super 8 Tournament and boost their confidence going into the next competitions.

While Traguil does not consider the tournament as a priority, he believes KCCA is a big team that should win silverware in every competition they take part.

Asked about the importance of winning the tournament, the Portuguese told Pulse Sports it would be important that his side get past URA FC in the semi-finals and go all the way to lift the Cup.

“It is important to work with victories. It gives us some motivation,” Traguil said ahead of Sunday’s game.

“Regarding our opponents, if they see that we are losing, they won’t fear us. If our opponents see that we are winning, if we win the Super 8 then the Super Cup to come, we will try to beat Vipers that won the league last season, that is mental advantage for us,” he added.

KCCA’s last piece of silverware was in 2019 when they lifted the CECAFA Kagame Cup in Kigali, Rwanda, and Traguil has been brought in to steady the ship and return trophies to Lugogo.

“The people who scout our team will look at what we are doing, and if they see that we are winning, then it’s a mental advantage for us because they will know that this is a winning team.”

Tough test

Against URA, KCCA will face their toughest thus far.

Wins over Kakamega Home Boyz and Wakiso Giants in a friendly and the Super 8, respectively, have left fans excited by Traguil’s methods.

But they come up against a URA side that has recruited well in the transfer market.

Shariph Kimbowa, Moses Aliro and Denis Otim are some of the players who have joined the Tax Collectors.

The Tax Collectors have a good record against KCCA and picked four points off the Kasasiro Boys last season, drawing 1-1 at Lugogo and winning 2-0 in Lugazi.

Traguil will hope to get the same kind of performance from youngster Abubakar Mayanja, whose brace against Wakiso sent KCCA to the semi-finals.
