Throughout the match, Al-Ittihad's fans taunted Ronaldo, repeatedly chanting the name of his rival, Lionel Messi.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Al-Nassr, was left fuming after his team's 1-0 loss to Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday.
It was the second match in a row in which the 38-year-old Ronaldo failed to score, and the loss saw Al-Ittihad leapfrog Al-Nassr to take top spot in the league table.
Brazilian Romarinho scored the decisive goal for Al-Ittihad 10 minutes from time, while Al-Ittihad's goalkeeper, Marcelo Grohe, parried away a fierce shot from Ronaldo in injury time to seal the victory.
Throughout the match, Al-Ittihad's fans taunted Ronaldo, repeatedly chanting the name of his rival, Lionel Messi.
This seemed to get under Ronaldo's skin, and he was visibly angry when he left the field of play after the final whistle.
Ronaldo took off his captain's armband before leaving the pitch and looked set to throw it, before regaining his composure.
He applauded the Al-Nassr supporters before storming off down the tunnel, kicking water bottles out of his way.
"Disappointed with the result, but we stay focused on our season and the games ahead,” the Portuguese star said on Twitter after the game.
“Thank you Al-Nassr fans for your support, we know we can count on you!" the tweet continued.
Al Ittihad leapfrog Al Nasr to take top spot in the league with 47 points, one point above Ronaldo’s Nasr.
