George Baldock died just hours before Greece's match against England and it has now been confirmed what caused his demise.
The family of George Baldock, the former Sheffield United star and Greek international who passed away on Wednesday, has issued a statement confirming the results of his post-mortem examination, which revealed that he tragically drowned.
Baldock was found in the swimming pool of his villa in Glyfada, Athens, on October 9, 2024, after concerns were raised by his wife, who was in England and unable to reach him.
Revealing an emotional tribute, the family expressed their heartbreak over the sudden loss of their beloved George.
“We are devastated by the passing of our cherished son, fiancé, father, brother, and friend. The post-mortem has confirmed that he drowned while swimming in the pool at his home,” they stated.
