Otto Addo is set to make a comeback as the head coach of Ghana's national football team after his previous stint in 2022.

Ghana is on the brink of welcoming back Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars. Addo, currently a talent coach at Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga, is set to depart at the end of the season to take up his new role with the national team.

This move marks a significant transition for Addo, who previously led Ghana through the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign but stepped down following the team's group stage exit in Qatar.

Excitement Surrounding Addo's Appointment

The announcement of Otto Addo's return has stirred excitement within the football community. The Ghana Football Association's decision to offer Addo a long-term contract reflects their confidence in his leadership abilities.

Addo's eagerness to take on the challenge and his gratitude towards Borussia Dortmund for facilitating this move further highlight the significance of his return to the national team.

"It wasn't easy for me to make this decision, but I'm very grateful and happy that those responsible at Borussia Dortmund are allowing me to take this step," Addo said in a statement on the Dortmund website, per the BBC.

"It's a great privilege to be able to take on the role of head coach of my national team. I've already gained a lot of experience in my role as [Ghana] interim coach and I'm looking forward to the task that lies ahead of me from the summer."

According to reports, the 48-year-old was offered a 34-month contract, with the option of extending for two additional years. Speaking glowingly about the move, the GFA president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okrak said the following:

"There were some brilliant individuals among the coaches who applied for the job. Otto was exceptional in the interview process and was rated highly by the search committee, hence the decision."

Ghana play Nigeria and Uganda on the 22nd and 26th of March, and according to the Ghanaian FA, Otto Addo will be in the dugout for both matches.
