For the Black Stars, this was their second consecutive elimination from an AFCON competition in the group stages.
Ghana failed to persevere and spent extended periods of time as the second-best team in Abidjan, despite Mozambique being one of the lowest-ranked countries in the AFCON and a team that has never won a match at the competition.
Ghana's two points and negative goal differential sealed the deal, placing them in third position and almost ensuring that they would again be eliminated from the Cup of Nations following the group round.

The rivalry between football giants Nigeria and Ghana has been reignited at the continental showpiece.
Ghanaians mocked the Super Eagles after a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea, and Nigerians responded following their 1-2 loss to Cape Verde.
The rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria in football is deep as their fans always take to social media to banter.
Ghana and Nigeria started to banter when they arrived at the AFCON in traditional attires and are set to continue for the rest of the tournament.
However, the Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded a 1-0 win against Guinea-Bissau to finish second in Group A.
The result piled pressure on the Black Stars of Ghana to qualify from Group B.
Following the result, Nigerian football fans took to social media to banter Ghana.
Barcelona Femeni forward Asisat Oshoala and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface led the banter session to the Ghanaians on social media.
