Nigeria vs Ghana preview
On the field, preparation, strategy, and mental toughness will be tested to the limit as both teams strive to earn a position in the CHAN competition.
For Nigeria's qualifying encounter against Ghana's Black Galaxies in Accra, head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has selected an 18-man squad.
Before a last training camp started three weeks ago at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, the Super Eagles B, led by Ogunmodede and coached by Fidelis Ilechukwu and Olatunji Baruwa, had spaced out their training sessions across three weeks starting in October.
Nigeria has dominated Ghana at the international level during the last ten months, beginning with the Super Eagles' 2-1 victory over the Black Stars in a friendly game in Marrakech, Morocco.
Nigeria vs Ghana rivalry
In Ghana's WAFU B U17 Championship third-place match, Nigeria's U17 boys defeated the Black Satellites 3-2.
The Flying Eagles successfully defended their WAFU B U20 Championship title at Lome, Togo, in October after defeating the Black Satellites 3-1.
Players chosen to the Super Eagles B camp are taking Nigeria's pursuit of a fourth African Nations Championship berth seriously.
Nigeria did not make it to the finals of the competition, which is only open to players who play in their home leagues and have permanent contracts, in 2009, 2011, 2021, and 2023.
Nonetheless, the Super Eagles made podium appearances in 2014 (in South Africa) and 2018 (in Morocco), winning bronze in the former and silver in the latter.
