The announcement of Uganda Cranes defender Gift Fred as a Young Africans player is imminent, Pulse Sports can confirm.

Gift’s capture is one of the reasons Young African President Hersi Saidi has used to sound a warning to other clubs and, in the same vein, encourage Young Africans fans, 'Wanainchi'.

“We have signed good players who will add quality who will add quality to our squad,” Saidi told the media in Tanzania.

“We looked at the weak areas and surfaced them; we hope we maintain the success,” he added.

Until now the Jangweni-based giants have just completed the signing of Nickson Kibabage, who joined from Singida Fountain Gate FC.

However, all indications show that Gift Fred will be the subsequent signing; the towering centre-back said his goodbyes to the Villa fans on Tuesday via his official Twitter handle.

Hersi further called club members and fans to continue trusting in the leadership as he promised good things to come.

“We request our esteemed members and fans to continue trusting in us for the next three years as we put in place good things to make them happy to enjoy being part of the club.”

Young Africans who appointed Argentine Miguel Angel Gamondi as Nabi Nasreddine’s replacement aim to go as far as they can in the CAF Champions League.

This is after they reached the CAF Confederation Cup final last season, falling short to USM Alger on the away goals rule.

Young Africans are expected to regroup this week to start preparations for the upcoming Charity Shield set to take place in August.

The competition, which has been restructured, will have four teams in the order of how they finished last season, unlike the previous editions where the league winner faced off with the FA Cup winner.
