Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said the club needs better players to compete with the best teams in Europe.
Manchester United secured qualification for the Uefa Champions League with a 4-0 trouncing of a poor Chelsea team.
Erik ten Hag has had an impressive debut season in charge of the Red Devils, picking up the Carabao Cup and looking to block Man City's path to a treble in the FA Cup final.
Ten Hag wants better players at Man United
United may have pushed harder for the title if they had better payers, according to the Red Devils boss.
“I don’t have so (much) patience. That is one of my mistakes. We want to win every game. He said.
“It’s a good base to build on but the standards have to go up, the demands have to rise. We have to work in the summer with this squad, but also in the window to see if you can strengthen the squad.
“In this league, it is a good base to be in the top four. We want to compete for the title but you have to be realistic and can first say when you have your squad at the end of the transfer window and the winter transfer window what you can do.
“The squad is there and you can make a statement about if it is realistic or not. Now we are far away, so we have a lot of work to do. We make progress in this team in this squad, but we need better players if we want to compete for the highest.”
Verdict
Manchester United need a new striker to take their results to the next level next season. Manchester City retained the Premier League and added Erling Haaland last summer.
The Norwegian has propelled the Citizens to a third PL title in a row. For the Red Devils to compete at the highest level, a bonafide goal-scorer will need to be brought in.
