The Pilsner Uganda Premier League Goalkeeper of the Season won't come easy as the competition for the prize is hugely stiff.

Custodians Simon Tamale formerly at Maroons FC, Soltilo Bright Stars' Hassan Matovu and URA FC skipper Nafian Alionzi will tussle it out for the prize.

Tamale at Maroons, was hugely impressive last season as he bagged the golden glove, having amassed 13 clean-sheets. He's thus the favorite to win the award.

His top perfomances also earned him a Player of the Season nomination, where he will be battle it out with Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa and SC Villa's Charles Bbaale.

Tamale won seven Player of the Match and two Monthly awards, the most by any player in the previous campaign.

Meanwhile, Matovu was also impressive for Soltilo Bright Stars in a season to remember where he made 25 league appearances.

The former KCCA FC goal-minder managed a decent 10 clean-sheets across the season, the third of any goalkeeper in the league.

On the other hand, Alionzi was as superb as ever for URA in a season he managed 26 league appearances.

In a superb campaign, the Uganda Cranes custodian then amassed 12 clean-sheets, just one behind Tamale.

The second edition of Pilsner league awards are slated for July 6 at the glamorous Kampala Serena Hotel.

Defender of the Season: Warren Buule (Soltilo Bright Stars), Hillary Mukundane (Vipers), Gift Fred (Villa).

Midfielder of the Season: Wahab Gadafi (Arua Hill), Laban Tibita (Busoga United), Lawrence Bukenya (Wakiso Giants)

Young Player of the Season: Saidi Mayanja (KCCA), Patrick Kakande (Villa), Darius Ojok (Maroons).
