Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala have made history by being nominated for the Ballon d'Or.
Nigerian football stars Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala were nominated for the Men & Women's Ballon d'Or awards respectively, in a historic feat.
The two stars have been recognised for their outstanding performances for their clubs in Europe.
Osimhen was pivotal as Napoli romped to the Serie A title, their first in 30 years. His 26 goals were aso enough to win the Golden Boot — the first African to do so.
Oshoala on the other hand, was spectacular throughout the season, winning the treble with Barcelona and leading the Super Falcons to the round of 16 in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Oliseh praises Osimhen, Oshoala
Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has showered praises on the two stars calling them role models.
He took to his social media page to send blessings their way! “These two players are great examples to our youths. god bless them!“
Osimhen and Oshoala being nominated marks the first time in history that an African country has produced both male and female nominees for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award in the same year.
