Gor Mahia came into the game on high confidence having thrashed Mathare United 4-0 in their league opener and took the game away from Posta Rangers.

Gor Mahia thrashed Posta Rangers 3-0 in their second FKF Premier League fixture at the Machakos Stadium on Saturday.

Head coach Leo Neiva made 5 changes to the side that sunk Mathare United 4-0 in their opening fixture.

Caleb Omondi came in for the absent Gad Mathews in goal with Levin Joseph coming in for Geoffrey Ochieng in the only change to the backline.

The Brazilian went for nearly almost new-look midfield with Enock Morrison being the only one to retain his position as Omondi Boniface and Juma Lawrence came in for Kapen Samuel and Onyango Alpha.

Austin Odhiambo and Christopher Ochieng maintained their place in the frontline with Wangai Bryson coming in for Shariff Musa.

The defending champions started well imposing themselves on the match with a continued dominance in possession in the early opening minutes.

Their dominance soon paid off when Wangayi pounced on a deflected shot on the edge of the box to unleash a venomous shot that the Mailers shotstopper could not keep out to hand K'Ogalo a 1-0 lead.

Rangers nearly leveled the score in the 24th minute when Rangers captain, Caleb Olilo nearly caught Omondi off-guard with a long shot strike but the shot stopper reacted in time with cat-like agility to pary the shot over the bar.

In the 34th minute, Kibwana Shami had a golden opportunity for Posta Rangers, but his shot went wide. Gor Mahia quickly responded, and just three minutes later, Austin Odhiambo doubled the lead, finding the back of the net after a well-constructed play, putting Gor Mahia comfortably ahead at 2-0 before halftime.

As the second half kicked off, Austin Odhiambo had another chance in the 52nd minute, but his shot went wide.

Substitutions came in at the 59th minute for both teams as Gor Mahia brought on Gideon Bendeka for Sammy Onyango, while Posta Rangers replaced Bonface Omondi with Chris Ochieng two minutes later, Gor made another change, with Kevin Juma replacing Lawrence Juma.

Odhiambo remained a constant threat and came close again in the 72nd minute. However, his efforts were cut short when Gor Mahia made a double substitution in the 78th minute, bringing off Odhiambo and Wangai for Paul Ochuoga and Musa Masika.

The final blow to the Mailers came in the 87th minute when Bendeka latched onto a sumptuous cross from Paul Ochuoga, sealing the 3-0 victory for Gor Mahia.

The win sees Gor Mahia continuing their strong form as they defend their title, while Posta Rangers will have to regroup and bounce back from the heavy defeat.
