K'Ogalo were frustrated by the home side in a tension-filled match that witnessed chaos before kick off

Gor Mahia missed the chance to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League table following a goalless draw with relegation-threatened Wazito FC on Sunday.

In a match that was full of tension after an incident of fan trouble saw supporters engage in a fist fight in Muhorini just before the match, Gor were unbale to break down the home side who put up a resolute defensive display to earn an unlikely point.

Gor, who started with 25-goal hero Benson Omala upfront with Lyason Kavuchi and Boniface Omondi on the wing, could not go past Wazito who frustrated them with a low block for most of the encounter.

Even a couple of changes from coach Johnathan McKinstry did not yield the desired results for K’Ogalo who have now allowed second-placed Tusker FC to close in with five matches remaining before the season ends.

Gor lead the standings on 63 points but their lead was cut to two points following Tusker's 1-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz.

The result means K’Ogalo have opened the door for Tusker to retain their title given the two teams will clash in a fortnight in a match that the brewers can go back to the top if they triumph.

Trouble was witnessed when a section of fans tried to force their way into the stadium just when the gates were being opened for the Gor team bus, leading into a fist fight.

The supporters overpowered security personnel at the entrance before kicks and blows ensued as rival fans went for each other’s jaguar.

Police had to lob teargas in the air to try and diffuse the situation and get things in order following the chaotic scene that threatened to derail the match.

The Muhoroni Stadium is known for its intimidating atmosphere with visiting teams finding it hard at the venue where supporters are known to throng during weekend matches and Gor discovered this the hard way on Sunday as they could only manage a point against a side they thrashed 4-0 in the corresponding fixture.
