Gor Mahia players have revealed the historical ties to the club that will make their match against Muhoroni Youth in Homa Bay extra special and a must-win after their recent run of draws
Gor Mahia players believe Homa Bay is the perfect place to put an end to their recent spell of draws when they take on Muhorobi Youth on Sunday.
Gor have won just one of their last four matches, three of them ending in goalless draws, including the last two, which has seen them fail to capitalise on leaders Posta Rangers’ poor run.
K’Ogalo have also been struggling to score, managing 1-0 wins over Tusker and Shabana with their 2-0 win over AFC Leopards on October 7 the last time they scored over one goal.

While they are still second on the table with 21 points, just one point behind Posta Rangers, fans had started getting worried, but the players feel playing in Homa Bay will give them the lift they need to start winning owing to its historical ties to the club.
“I was in the national team, had a good outing. I have found a good spirit in the team and we want to win because we have gone a number of games without winning, just drawing,” said striker Benson Omala.
“Everyone wants to win and I see it in training. We need the fans because we are coming home. Homa Bay is home and they should come in large numbers and we will give them something to celebrate.”
Defender Geoffrey ‘Simiti’ Ochieng is keen for Gor Mahia to maintain their unbeaten run, especially in Homa Bay which is the club’s origin.
“Being unbeaten is also a challenge. Every player is putting in the hard work. Homa Bay is like home, it is what we call Kanyamwa where Gor Mahia started. We want to fight to give the fans a win because the last time we played there, we won,” said Ochieng, whose sentiments were echoed by captain Philemon Otieno.
“We have had good preparations and I know when we get to Sunday, we will emerge victorious. To our fans, in Homa Bay, Gor dwogo dala (Gor are coming home) so be ready and come and give us support and we will fight for all three points,” said Otieno.
Gor Mahia and Muhoroni played out a goalless draw when the two sides last met in Muhoroni last season when the latter was still known as Wazito FC.
