FKFPL Gor Mahia reveal Benson Omala's price tag amid interest from USM Alger

Gor Mahia are seeking a substantial fee for star striker Benson Omala amid interest from USM Alger and other prominent clubs.

Gor Mahia are reportedly looking for a fee in the region of $100,000 (Ksh 15.9 million) to part ways with their star attacker Benson Omala in the ongoing transfer window.

The 22-year-old has been in scintillating form for K'Ogalo this season, drawing attention from several prominent clubs, including Algerian heavyweights USM Alger.

Omala's performance has been nothing short of phenomenal, making him one of the most sought-after talents in the region.

His knack for finding the back of the net, scoring nine goals this season and standing as the league's leading scorer, has made him not only a fan favorite but also a key asset for Gor Mahia.

Despite the interest from overseas clubs, Gor Mahia's Secretary General Sam Ocholla made it clear that the club values Omala highly.

“He is our best asset now and the top scorer of the team and the league. He is a very good player, young, and with four years remaining on his contract. At the moment, we cannot listen to anything lower than $100,000 (Ksh 15.9million) for Omalla. When a good offer comes, we will not come in his way,” Ocholla told Capital Sports.

Reports suggest that USM Alger is working on a mouth-watering package to entice Omala.

They are believed to have tabled a $20,000 (Ksh3,102,190) monthly salary along with a signing-on fee of $100,000 (Ksh15,510,950).

Moreover, the Algerian club is said to be offering Omala a two-and-a-half-year contract and reportedly wants to pay Gor Mahia $50,000 (Ksh7,755,475) as a transfer fee.

The interest in Omala is not confined to USM Alger alone as he previously attracted attention from South Africa's Premier Soccer League side Kaizer Chiefs and Tanzanian giants Yanga.

However, with Gor Mahia's set valuation of the player, it remains to be seen if any of these clubs will match or come close to the asking price.

Gor Mahia coach Johnathan McKinstry is understandably keen on retaining Omala, especially mid-way through the season when the team is in contention to retain their title.

Losing Omala could be a significant blow to their campaign, given his crucial role in the team's attacking formation.

The situation is delicate for Gor Mahia, as Omala's contract expires in 2026. If they do not capitalize on his current market value in the next two seasons, they risk losing him for free, provided he does not sign a new contract with the FKF Premier League champions.
