Gor Mahia seem to have their season back on track after edging past FC Talanta to register their third consecutive victory.

Gor Mahia goalkeeper Gad Mathews has exuded confidence in his team’s ability to retain their title following a dramatic 3-2 victory over Talanta at the Dandora Stadium on Wednesday.

The defending champions weathered a late onslaught to secure their third consecutive win in the league.

Early goals from Sylvester Owino, Austin Odhiambo, and Christopher Ochieng set the tone for Gor Mahia, giving them a commanding first-half lead.

Despite Talanta's spirited fightback in the second half the team's resilience ensured all three points went to the champions.

Speaking after the match, Mathews expressed pride in the team's performance and optimism for the season ahead.

“We are very happy. Three wins in a row is a big motivation for us. Talanta pushed hard, but the early goals we got helped us. It was a good and competitive match,” said Mathews.

The shot-stopper described the result as a turning point for the team, signaling their intent to dominate the league once again.

“It was a statement result. We are back to where we want to be, and the league is just defending itself, it’s when we are starting,” he added.

Mathews also took a moment to address fans, acknowledging their unwavering support during tough times.

“Patience is key. The fans were not patient at some point when things were not going well, but now we are all together. I’m happy they support us overwhelmingly, and I hope they continue to do so,” he said.

With momentum firmly on their side, Gor Mahia's will aim to further close the gap on leaders KCB who currently are ahead of them by five point on the log.
