Omala currently leads the goalscoring charts but insists the team winning matches is more important than individual accolades.
Gor Mahia hotshot striker Benson Omala believes that his teammates must carry on the momentum they have gained in their last two games against AFC Leopards and Tusker when they face Bidco United next weekend if they are to return to the summit of the league table.
Omala has now scored seven goals in seven appearances this season, with his goals making the difference in the last two league games, and that run of form has now put them within a point of surprise league leaders Posta Rangers.
Although the 22-year-old is super determined to make history by winning the Golden Boot and smashing the record he missed out on last year, he is even more determined to help his side get all the points against Bidco United on Saturday in efforts to get to the summit.

FOOTBALL Gor Mahia legend: Harambee Stars snub working in Benson Omala’s favour
The former Gor Mahia player and assistant coach feels being omitted from the Harambee Stars squad has fueled the fire in Benson Omala’s belly
“As a striker, whenever you get a chance, you have to put it into the back of the net,” Omala said.
“I think we have to continue like that. We have to win all our matches. We want to return to the top of the league and we are playing like champions. The team is good and we have to keep pushing,” Omala said after the game against Tusker.
Omala is relishing the chance to be the man whose goals wins games on a weekly basis for K’ogalo.
”If I score, the team will get points and keep pushing and I believe if we continue like that, we will be champions again.”
He finished last season second on the top scorer’s charts with a record-equaling 26 goals and has started this campaign in brilliant fashion again, as he has three more than FC Talanta’s Erick Ombija while Geoffrey Onyango (Kariobangi Sharks), Moses Shumah (Kakamega Homeboyz) and Collins Neto (Muhoroni Youth) each have three.
