Club history and culture play a huge role in attracting players to football clubs worldwide, as was the case with Ugandan international Shafik Kagimu, who joined Kenyan giants Gor Mahia.
The creative midfielder, who penned a one-year deal at the K'Ogalo, was immediately thrown into action on Wednesday, debuting in K'Ogalo's 5-0 thumping of Vihiga Bullets.
The game also saw Patrick Kaddu score a hat trick while Peter Lwasa helped himself to one too.
Kagimu told this website that it was down to Gor Mahia's rich history, the fans and getting a new challenge.
"Gor Mahia is one of the biggest clubs in Africa that any player would wish to play for; it's got a rich football history, passionate fans and has also won a couple of trophies in Kenya," he told Pulse Sports.
"So once the opportunity availed itself, it was easy for me to go for it with so much privilege."
The former URA FC captain also adds that Gor Mahia's head coach Johnathan Mckinstry was another factor that encouraged him to join the K'Ogalo.

"He always preaches perfection but at the same time also helps work a lot on improving players to become better with his football knowledge."
