Pep Guardiola has firmly closed the door on a return to Barcelona even after his Manchester City contract ends
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shut the door on a possible return to managing former club Barcelona, making this revelation in a recent interview.
Pep Guardiola: Barcelona legend
After spending the majority of his playing career with Barcelona, winning six LaLiga titles and the European Cup in 1992, Guardiola returned to the Blaugrana as their manager in 2009, bringing more success to his boyhood club.
Guardiola took the Barcelona team which had finished third in LaLiga in the season before he joined to an unprecedented sextuple just one year later, winning all six competitions in which the Catalans took part.
As Barcelona manager, Guardiola went on to win 14 titles in four seasons, including four LaLiga titles and two UEFA Champions League titles, endearing himself to the Blaugrana faithful and sealing his place as one of the greatest managers in the club’s history before moving on to Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
Guardiola dismisses Barcelona return
Since leaving Barcelona in 2012, fans of the club have dreamt of the day when Guardiola would return to the club, but their hopes have been dashed by the man himself, who claims he has no interest in returning to the club where he started his playing and managerial careers.
When asked in a recent interview if the door closed for a possible return to Barcelona in the future, Guardiola responded with a simple, “Yes, door closed.”
This all but ends any hopes that Guardiola will make a comeback to Barcelona, despite admitting that he might continue at Manchester City after his contract ends next season.
