Jose Peseiro wants the Super Eagles to recreate Abuja performance

Ahead of the second leg slated for Monday, Super Eagles boss, Peseiro, has asked his team to repeat the dominant “offensive process” which saw the team create chances in the first leg but adds the team must finish better.

“I spoke with my players, I spoke about a meeting tomorrow (today) the need to be more focus(ed),” Peseiro said.

“You cannot wait to create 1, 2, 3, 4 (chances), no, you must score. You cannot wait. You create this easy (chances) for the goal to come. No, no, you must score the ball. “

“(But) you need to create this (dominant) mentality for tomorrow (today),” he added. “Even repeat the same offensive process because it creates many opportunities.”

Peseiro defends Super Eagles stars

Meanwhile, against popular opinion, Super Eagles coach Peseiro has remained vehement in his defence of his players.

The Portuguese manager believes that his Eagles performed better against Guinea-Bissau and deserved more from the game than the wins against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.

Peseiro reemphasised this during his pre-match press conference on Sunday evening, where he also blamed the Abuja pitch and poor officiating from the centre referee for the defeat.

“Everyone complained before about one team not producing the attack, we produced the attack,” Peseiro told Pulse Sports.

“For that match (vs Sao Tome) we played better this match (vs Guinea-Bissau) than the record against Sao Tome, 10-0.”

“Even, we created more opportunities (than vs Sierra Leone) but of course, we were unlucky (not to score)."

On the MKO Abiola pitch and officiating, the Super Eagles boss added;

Nigeria's Victor Osimhen had a frustrating outing in Abuja.

“I can't speak of the pitch, the pitch didn't help us, it didn't help us. If you see the video, if you come with me and see the video, many times you try to shoot but the ball isn't going. It's the truth, not a lie and I am not excusing my players.”

But you don't speak about the clear penalty. Why a clear penalty, red card for the guy but no one speaks about that," Peseiro quizzed.
