Manchester City’s Norwegian striker Erling Haaland says he feels a personal “pressure” to help the club win the Champions League against Inter Milan.
Haaland joined from Borussia Dortmund and has been a standout performer for Pep Guardiola’s men, tallying 52 goals in 52 games this season.
The 22-year-old also won the Premier League golden boot after breaking the single-season PL record and he believes he can play a big role in City’s treble quest despite the enormous pressure.
Haaland feeling pressure ahead of Champions League final
He said: “Of course I feel pressure. I would lie if I said I didn’t. You say it yourself and it’s true, they won the Premier League without me, they won every trophy without me. So I’m here to try to do a thing that the club has never done before and I’ll do my best.”
In addition to capturing the Premier League title and FA Cup this season, City is looking to become the first side since Manchester United to win the 'traditional' treble.
Man City vs Inter: 3 things Nerazzurri can do to stop Guardiola’s treble ambition
Haaland has scored just once in his last seven matches across all competitions. However, he believes that people being critical of his performance can be a positive thing.
“I think often it’s a good thing when people start criticising you,” he added.
“I scored every single game and then people started criticising me. That’s what happened basically. When people criticise you it’s normally a good thing it’s just about trying to smile a bit and enjoy life."
