Man City continue to maintain their top spot as they make it five wins in five games against West Ham.

West Ham were looking comfortable heading to the game after defeating Luton Town before the international break.

However, Pep Guardiola’s men proved the better team as they defeated David Moye's side 3-1 at Upton Park Stadium.

West Ham took the lead in the first half from a counterattack as Jame Ward Prowes headed a cross into the back of the net.

Man City got back into the game from Jérémy Doku's equaliser in the second half before Bernardo Silva gave the Citizens the lead.

Haaland who had been itching to get a goal later scored to clinch the game for Pep Guardiola’s side.

As it happened

David Moyes made one change to the West Ham side that defeated Luton in their last Premier League outing before the international break.

Tomas Soucek came in for Said Benrahma, while Vladimir Coufal also started despite sustaining a knock while playing for the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola made two changes to the Manchester City team that started the 5-1 victory over Fulham a fortnight ago.

Josko Gvardiol is preferred to Nathan Ake in defence and Bernardo Silva replaces Mateo Kovacic, who missed training this week with a back injury.

The game started with Man City dominating most of the possessions as always but it was the home side who struck first in the game.

West Ham soaked a lot of pressure from Man City but took their opportunity from a counter-attack which was finished off with a diving header from Ward-Prowse after connecting to a cross.

Man City tried creating more chances to get back to the game but they were stopped by the West Ham defence as the referee blew the half-time whistle.

The second half got underway and Man City did not waste any time as they made use of their first chance.

Jérémy Doku who was pinging in some dangerous crosses decided to go at it alone, weaving into the area before curling a fine strike into the bottom corner.

As the game went on, Man City continued to pile a lot of pressure on West Ham which paid off in the 76th minute.

Julian Alvarez did a great job as he scooped the ball over the top for Bernardo Silva, who prodded the ball over the goalkeeper.

Haaland then added the third goal for Man City after missing some good chances and had some other good efforts saved.

He was fed by a great ball by Bernardo Silva and Haaland kept his cool to drive in and slot the ball past the goalkeeper.

The referee blew the final whistle to end the game as Man City defeated West Ham 3-1 at Upton Park.
