With five goals against Leipzig, Haaland has reached milestones that most players can only dream off
Manchester City's Erling Haaland reached a new milestone in his record-breaking first season in Manchester with five goals against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg.
Haaland blitzes Leipzig with five goals
Haaland scored all three of Manchester City’s goals in the first half, netting his 17th career hat-trick against RB Leipzig.
The big Norwegian opened the scoring for Manchester City after a contentious penalty, and then he doubled the lead 19 minutes after the restart with a well-guided header after Kevin de Bruyne hit the post.
He then completed his hat-trick with a poacher's goal, finding the back of the net for the 31st time in the UCL at only 22 years old.
Haaland makes UCL history with Leipzig performance
Not wanting to stop at good, Haaland went for great scoring two more goals for Manchester City to reach his 33rd goal in 25 UCL games so far before being taken off in the 63rd minute.
With his haul of five goals, Haaland broke one incredible UCL record and equalled another.
Haaland became the fastest player to reach 30 UCL goals after already claiming the record for the youngest and fastest player to 20 goals. His fifth goal against Leipzig brought him level with Lionel Messi as the only two people who have scored five goals in a single UCL match.
Despite the incredible performance, Haaland was taken off with almost 30 minutes of the match left, and you have to imagine that he would have scored more goals if Pep Guardiola had just allowed him to finish the game.
