Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has shed light on reports that he was involved in the transfer of Benson Omala from Gor Mahia to Lebanese outfit Al-Safa FC.
Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has refuted claims that he engineered Benson Omala’s transfer from Gor Mahia to Lebanese side Al-Safa FC.
Omala’s father Peter Oluoch had been quoted saying Firat helped connect his son to the Lebanese outfit after his stellar spell with Gor Mahia in the last two years.
However, the Turkish coach insists he has no contacts in the war-torn nation and did not recommend the striker to the club Middle East club.

Benson Omala’s father reveals Engin Firat’s hand in Lebanon transfer
Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has been reported to have played a major role in helping Benson Omala secure a move to Lebanese outfit Al-Safa FC.
“Normally teams that have interest in Kenyan players they call me to ask about my opinion. In Benson’s case, nobody called me from Lebanon,” Firat told journalist Eric Njiru.
In an interview with Nation on Thursday, Oluoch had claimed that his son’s transfer was orchestrated by the Harambee Stars coach, who was keen to have him succeed abroad.
“Firat is the one who took my son there. He previously had an agent but they parted ways. I am not concerned that anyone will exploit him for financial gain," said Oluoch.

Benson Omala ditches Gor Mahia for Middle East riches
Omala has officially been unveiled as a new signing by Lebanese outfit Al Safa SC.
“This is his third day in Lebanon and I’m impressed that my son has finally got a chance to play outside the country. This has been his dream because playing professional football is an indicator that one can go far in his football career.
“My son wanted to have a big career growth in his football and to establish himself in terms of earning power. Playing outside Kenya will give him that.”
Omala had seen a midseason transfer to Algerian club JS Soura fall through in February but remained keen on joining paid ranks abroad.
