Good news as former Gor Mahai defender returns to training after recovering from a serious muscle injury.

Kenyan international defender Erick 'Marcelo' Ouma has resumed training with Polish top-tier side Rakow Czestochowa.

The talented left-back suffered a torn semimembranosus muscle during a league clash against Zaglebie Lubin on May 4 which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

At the time of his injury, Rakow Czestochowa issued a statement highlighting the severity of Ouma's condition.

"Eric Ouma ended the match against Zaglebie Lubin with an injury, leaving the field in the 29th minute. The tests showed that our player had a torn semimembranosus muscle. Unfortunately, we won’t see Eric on the pitch this season," the club had announced.

However, after months of rigorous rehabilitation, Ouma is back on the field.

Photos of him training were shared by the club on Monday, indicating a successful recovery as the team gears up for the pre-season.

Ouma's absence was a significant loss for both his club and the Kenyan national team.

His defensive skills and versatility in playing both wing-back and full-back roles have made him an indispensable asset.

The Kenyan defender was notably missed during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast.

Before joining Rakow in January, Ouma had a successful stint at Swedish club AIK, where he made 104 appearances over four seasons.

His debut for Rakow was in a friendly match against Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad on January 27.

Rakow have started preparing for the upcoming campaign and Ouma's presence is expected to strengthen their defense line, potentially influencing their strategy and performance in domestic and international matches.

His experience and skills will be crucial as Rakow aims to climb the league standings and make a significant impact in European competitions.
