Collins Sichenje is set for a loan move back to Finland providing him with a platform to continue his development.

Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje is set for an exciting return to Finland as he joins HJK Helsingfors on loan.

This move will see the AIK center-back bolster the Finnish club's defense ahead of their Champions League campaign next season.

Sichenje, who previously enjoyed a successful loan spell with Finnish side KuPS in 2023, returns to the Veikkausliiga with high expectations.

During his time at KuPS, he made 20 league appearances and was named Young Player of the Season, a testament to his impact on the team.

However, his return to AIK in November was marred by an injury that required a minor procedure, limiting his playing time under coach Henning Berg.

Sportbladet had reported earlier this year that Sichenje was not in Berg's plans for the 2024 Allsvenskan season.

Consequently, AIK began exploring options to either sell or loan out the promising defender, with Finnish clubs emerging as potential destinations.

HJK Helsingfors is now close to finalizing a loan deal for Sichenje, with only minor details remaining.

If all goes as planned, the move will be officially announced within the next week.

This loan deal presents a significant opportunity for Sichenje to gain valuable playing time and contribute to HJK's ambitions in both domestic and European competitions.

HJK Helsingfors, the reigning Finnish champions, are gearing up for another strong season and will look to Sichenje to strengthen their defensive line.

His previous experience in the Finnish league and his proven track record at KuPS make him a valuable addition to the team.

Expressen had also reported that other clubs, including an unnamed Finnish club and Serbian side Vojvodina FC, were interested in securing Sichenje's services.

However, it appears that HJK Helsingfors has won the race for the talented Kenyan defender.

Sichenje's journey in European football began when he joined AIK from AFC Leopards ahead of the 2022 season.

He made eight appearances in his debut Allsvenskan campaign, showcasing his potential.

His contract with AIK runs until December 31, 2026, indicating the club's long-term interest in his development.

Despite his limited playing time at AIK this season, Sichenje remains a crucial part of the Harambee Stars setup.

He was included in the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast, although he did not feature in the matches.
