Harambee Stars have moved six places up in the latest FIFA rankings following their draw and a win against Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Kenya has moved six places in the latest FIFA world ranking released on Thursday after more than 20 qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations were played across the continent in early September.

Harambee Stars are currently ranked 102nd and their hopes of climbing further in the rankings will improve if they defeat Cameroon in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in October.

Kenya gained11 points to increase their points build-up from 1,197 to 1,208 points.

Harambee Stars rise is on the back of a 2-1 win over Namibia and a goalless draw against Zimbabwe in 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

In the latest FIFA ranking, Morocco, who were semi-finalists in the 2022 World Cup, are the highest-ranked African nation in position 12 after moving up one spot up.

Former African champions Senegal, who were previously ranked higher, dropped to 21st place. Ivory Coast, the current African champions, moved up five places to position 33 globally and third in Africa.

The status quo remains for the top three teams with Argentina, France and Spain occupying the first three positions. They are followed by England in fourth and Brazil in fifth place.

The FIFA world ranking is determined using the Elo Model. This method adds or subtracts points for matches to or from a team's existing point total.

The points which are added or subtracted are partially determined by the relative team strength, match importance, match result and expected match result.
