Manchester United are reportedly preparing for a summer of restructuring and rebuilding of the playing staff and these are the possible 12 players facing the axe.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag reportedly has doubts over several members of the squad and will look to find a new home for them in the summer.
With no conclusive names given as yet, we have complied a list of 12 players likely to be sent packing at the end of the season.
Manchester United manager to get rid of 12 first-team players in ruthless overhaul
1. David de Gea
A slew of costly errors have defined his recent Man United career, with Thursday night's display against Sevilla, a new low for him.
He is out of contract in the summer and recently rejected the proposal of a new deal on reduced wages. The fanbase have turned against him and the Spaniard is unlikely to remain the Manchester United first choice goalkeeper much longer.
2. Manchester United captain - Harry Maguire
After joining Mancheter United for £80m from Leicester and having a good first season, his stocks have fallen since then. At this point, it is clear to all that he is just not good enough to be a starting centre-back at this level.
He was once again at his worst as the Red Devils lost 3-0 to Sevilla to crash out of the Europa League. It is hard to see him remaining at the club beyond the summer.
3. Anthony Martial
Exciting talent and fans will always have a soft spot for him but his wretched injury record and lack of consistent output make him a leading candidate to be axed at the end of the season.
4. Scott McTominay
The Scottish international has had some good days and can be called upon to put in a shift but ultimately is not of the level required to play for a club like Manchester United.
5. Axel Tuanzebe
Out of Contract in the summer
6. Phil Jones
Out of Contract in the summer
7. Eric Bailly
Out on loan at Ligue 1 side Marseille. While Bailly has some ability, he is too erratic and unlikely to flourish under Erik Ten Hag. He could fetch United a decent amount of money in the summer. Should be sold
8. Alex Telles
On loan at Sevilla, Telles is nowhere near good enough defensively to be a regular fixture in this United side. If a deal can be reached, he will likely be sold.
9. Donny Van de Beek
Van de Beek has had a nightmarish spell since joining from Ajax for £40m. His preferred role is right behind the striker, a spot Bruno Fernandes currently occupies.
He has also never looked confident enough in a Manchester United shirt. Another one who is most likely on his way out.
10. Brandon Williams
Needs playing time elsewhere, not good enough for Manchester United
11. Anthony Elanga
Decent player with good potential, Elanga could flourish elsewhere. The demands of playing for Manchester United and the lack of regular involvement means it is best for him to look at his options. Another one who could be on his way out in June.
12. Fred
Fred has had good moments as well as bad ones but his time at United is probably coming to an end. He is now effectively the 5th choice central midfielder and has struggled badly for game time.
If the latest reports are to be believed, Fred could be on his way out of Old Trafford at the end of the season
