Lazio chief happy to avoid Greenwood signing
Fabiani revealed that Lazio had considered signing Greenwood last year, but ultimately decided against it due to his off-field issues.
"We wanted Greenwood last year, then there was a hitch with the player - you all know what Greenwood's problem was," he told Lazio club media.
When Greenwood's agent approached Lazio again this year, they offered £22m for 50% of the player, but he chose to join Marseille instead. Lotito stated,
"He preferred to take another path and I say that the best deals are those that aren't made.
Fabiani emphasized his preference for players who are committed to the team, citing Nicolo Rovella and Mattia Zaccagni as examples. "I don't want these mercenaries," he said.
“If he’s taken another path, we wish Greenwood the best of luck.”
Greenwood netted his first Marseille goal this week in a friendly against second-tier side Pau FC.
