Arsenal legend Ian Wright has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo for his performances at EURO 2024.
Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at EURO 2024 on the back of a prolific season, having scored 35 goals in the Saudi Pro League. However, he failed to replicate this form for Portugal, with his performances deteriorating as the tournament progressed.
Fans and pundits were particularly disappointed by Ronaldo's insistence on taking free kicks, despite a dismal record of just one goal from 60 attempts.
Wright questioned manager Roberto Martinez's decision to continue starting Ronaldo and keeping talented players like Diogo Jota on the bench.

Ian Wright believes Ronaldo blocked Diogo Jota's chance at EURO 2024
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Wright said, via GOAL, “The way he played in Euro 2024, as great as he’s been, surely Diogo Jota must be disappointed that he couldn’t get on the pitch.
What I saw of Ronaldo, he can’t cut it at this level now.”
The Portugal captain will be over 40 years old at the 2026 World Cup, and there is no indication he plans to retire.
